Allen Durham

President & Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Durham has over 20 years of insurance and reinsurance industry experience and is honored to have worked with the public safety sector for over two-thirds of his career. He developed the concept of Star & Shield Insurance following many years of placing reinsurance programs for law enforcement related self-insurance funds. Mr. Durham has held numerous positions in the insurance and reinsurance industry including Senior Vice President of Benfield, Inc. and positions with Willis Re, E.W. Blanch Co. and Transamerica.

Mr. Durham holds a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from the Florida State University College of Business and a Juris Doctor from the University of Memphis School of Law. In addition, he also holds the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations from the Insurance Institute of America and is a licensed property and casualty insurance agent.

Mr. Durham has been honored with the prestigious Circle of Gold Award by Florida State University and has been a guest lecturer on numerous occasions for Florida State University’s Risk Management and Insurance major. He currently serves on the Advisory Council for the Florida Catastrophic Storm Risk Management Center. Mr. Durham is also a past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Florida State University National Alumni Association and has served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Insurance Council, the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors for the Florida State University College of Business, the Board of Directors for the Southwestern Insurance Information Service and the Board of Trustees for Holy Comforter Episcopal School.

Jennifer Mazzio

Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Mazzio has over 25 years of insurance industry experience, primarily in the property and casualty sector. Over her career, she has held various positions in finance and management capacities. Prior to joining Star & Shield, she was the Vice President of Finance of Berkley Specialty Underwriting Managers, a W. R. Berkley company. Prior to Berkley she was the Assistant Vice President and Controller of Assurance America Insurance Company. Her broad experience includes statutory and GAAP financial reporting, reinsurance, investments, taxes and treasury management.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from George Mason University and an Executive MBA from West Chester University. In addition, she holds the Associate in Insurance Accounting and Finance (AIAF) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations from the Insurance Institute of America.
