Am I Eligible?
Star & Shield Insurance Exchange is currently open to all active, retired and volunteer members of the Law Enforcement, Corrections, Fire-Rescue, and EMS communities, as well as their children and spouses (currently available in Florida only). This includes: sworn, civilian support personnel, volunteers and retirees of local, state, and federal agencies and direct support organizations. Star & Shield Insurance Exchange Eligibility Requirements for Membership
Membership in Star & Shield Insurance Exchange is open to the following:
- Certified law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue and emergency medical service (EMS) personnel;
- Employees of law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue, EMS and emergency managment agencies, divisions or units;
- Retirees of categories listed above;
- Credentialed volunteers of law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue and EMS and emergency management agencies, divisions or units;
- Widows and widowers of law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue and EMS and emergency management personnel who died while eligible;
- Employees & members of not-for-profit professional associations that solely represent law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue, EMS and emergency management agencies or personnel of those agencies;
- Employees and members of law enforcement, corrections, fire rescue or EMS or emergency management sponsored not-for-profit social service organizations;
- Employees of Star & Shield Group affiliates and subsidiaries;
- Parents, siblings, children and spouses of the above member categories.
